Kai Havertz delivers coy response to transfer rumours amid Liverpool links

Kai Havertz refused to comment on speculation linking him with a transfer this summer following another two-goal performance from the forward on Saturday.

The Bayer Leverkusen star bagged a brace as his side overcame Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 in their Bundesliga fixture.

It took just seven minutes for Havertz to break the deadlock, racing on to a through ball before finishing past the onrushing goalkeeper.

After the hosts had levelled in the second half, Havertz put Leverkusen back in front from the penalty spot, before teammate Sven Bender wrapped up the points late on.

Quizzed on his future following the match, Havertz told Sky: "I do not like to say, of course, that there is a lot of speculation.

"I'm concentrating on this season and will see what happens afterwards.

"I am very grateful to Leverkusen and I don't want to mess it up in any way."

Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing the 20-year-old, and are believed to be the front-runners for his signature.

Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all also said to be keeping tabs on Havertz's situation, with Leverkusen looking increasingly likely to lose their star player.

Leverkusen's manager Peter Bosz admitted back in March that it would be difficult to keep hold of Havertz beyond the end of this season, but that was prior to the coronavirus outbreak.

The German club have slapped a £90million asking price on Havertz, which could ward off potential suitors given the current economic crisis.

However Havertz is doing a good a good job of keeping Europe's big clubs interested with his impressive form.

Going into the enforced break Havertz had notched five goals in eight games, and has since bagged four in his last two since the Bundesliga's return.
